2020 has been one of the most devastating years for police-community relations. Through the death of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer to demonstrations around the country, law enforcement finds itself in a desperate need to rebuild trust in its legitimacy. But this call for community support is taking place in an unfamiliar arena — social media. This session will explore how police departments can begin to create trust using online methods, and help begin to heal relationships with their community using online tools.
